“Hamlet Brook” captures the imagery of the beautiful nature surrounding the speaker. The speaker admires the water before taking a drink, and out of nowhere, “a startled incline trout” darts out of the water. The language used describes the journey of the fish through the “stream-bed rocks”. The fish “butts then out of view” leaving the reader to admire the rest of the beautiful landscape. The speaker doesn’t understand how to metaphorically “drink all this”. The speaker is left overwhelmed, not knowing how to be satisfied by all of the fascinating imagery around him.
